ain't no coupon here

I got this in my inbox today.  Usually there's a Thank You coupon following every survey filled out online.  I knew better.  But, since I'm a fan I filled it out.........(hoping there'd be a coupon at the end)

Get in the car and go (that's our motto)

Another weekend excursion.  This time we go north.  Pictures tell all.
Notice: the mexi-celtic restaurant name :)

I am my mother's daughter

Too many times I've been targeted with the comment "You're just like your mom".  When I was a kid I never dreamed of being "like my mom" because she always had expensive taste and was always into the finer things.  I considered myself somewhat of a happy o lucky hippie kind of kid with my long hair and hemp necklaces, beaded bracelets, and flip flops.

Last year I was in the market to buy a new car.  I was going from my little 1997 Toyota Corolla to something maybe a bit newer but nothing at all fancy.  So, I looked into a Scion, a Civic, and a VW Rabbit.  No biggies right.  Hm, well, as I started to shop I noticed these other more sophisticated cars that would make me feel like a pretty little fancy girl.  I even considered a Benz.  Totally out of my league.  Yeah, really.  I did end up buying another car.  Something bigger but not too big.  It was a little fancier but nothing too over the top.  Mom never went too over the top in the car category.  Although her recent purchase was a luxury SUV (she lives in a state where gas is the lowest in the country now- good for her).

But where do I really become "my mother's daughter"?  Oh, just call me a name brand whore now.  It's pretty crazy.  While half of my wardrobe still comes from Target (they're clothes are too cute) , the other half, well, let's put it this way...Target lets me save money on buying from those stores that start with the letter N and the ones that have pianos playing in the background.  Real live pianos.  My sunglasses now include a brand name plastered to the side, my purse has the logo jetting out from each side, and the list goes on.  Don't get me started on the purses.  My purses don't come from Target.  I am a purse snob.  My mother- complete purse snob.

64 East Leads to 2 Places

It does.  VA Beach and Williamsburg.  Well, after you skip the city and my second home of M'ville.  Our Ivey excursion consisted of visiting an ol favorite: PRIME OUTLETS.  With the opening of the new Juicy and Burberry stores my mind was made up.  I went during grand opening weekend.  Grand opening of the so-called "new part" that is.  Michael Kors and the Polo Outlet are already reason enough to visit this little town of settlement but now, they've added more for the ambitious lux deal shopper.  My husband doesn't make it any better.  While I've already planned to burn a hole in my pocket that day he had to add the infamous Pottery to our trip.  We needed to find something for the house.  We always have to find something for the house.  Then...because we are "sell designer stuff on ebay" fanatics we set out to find great deals in other unmentionable places.  ( I am not giving my secrets away...are you crazy?)

Did I mention it was storming and tornado-ing in central VA on this day of shopping excursion? Oh yeah, but without an umbrella in hand it only made the day more fun.  The drive home was one of those drives where it's raining SO hard that you can't see the road.  And I drove.  In my car.  My car hates bad weather.  It was only made to enjoy sunny weather.

I survived.  I made it to work on Monday morning without a scratch on my body.

work it out girl

The routine started this week.  Walking around my my hood takes a total of 7 minutes so my workout sometimes consists of a warm up, a walk that repeats itself around the hood over and over again, then a stretch.

So yesterday I buy one of those exercise balls.  Yeah, those.   I used to think these things were ridiculous.  I was proven wrong!  Love my ball.  Hated pumping it up- that was a workout in itself.

Today I play tennis.  This is a game I haven't played in awhile...um in about 6 years.  Ouch.

Blog virgin

Here I am kicked back in my most awful outfit  but most comfy of the week (cropped sweats and a WRV tee).  College Hill is on the tube.  I am in "If you give a mouse a cookie mode..."  I kicked back and put my feet up on an ottoman and started posting some things on ebay.  Then as I started poking around on the net I looked into this whole blogging thing.  See, MCI, my husband, watched a series this weekend about the internet.  Yeah, sometimes we can be technonerds.  The series made me do it.  So, I thought I needed a blog...just like I think I need a lot of other things.  So, here goes...let's see how much of a hobby I can turn this into.  Like I need more to do too, right.
